The equation of the line is
y=(-1)/(5) x-(21)/(5).

Solution:

The points on the line are (–6, –3) and (4, –5).

x_(1)=-6, y_(1)=-3, x_(2)=4, y_(2)=-5

Slope of the line:

$m=(y_(2)-y_(1))/(x_(2)-x_(1))

$m=(-5-(-3))/(4-(-6))

$m=(-5+3)/(4+6)

$m=(-2)/(10)

$m=(-1)/(5)

Point-slope formula:

y-y_(1)=m\left(x-x_(1)\right)

$y-(-3)=(-1)/(5)(x-(-6))

$y+3=(-1)/(5)(x+6)

$y+3=(-1)/(5) x-(6)/(5)

Subtract 3 from both sides of the equation.

$y=(-1)/(5) x-(21)/(5)

The equation of the line is
y=(-1)/(5) x-(21)/(5).
