Explanation: trephining which is also called trepanation is the process of surgical cutting of hole through the skull of a patient without damaging any blood vessels in the head to reveal the dura mater, this process is usually done to treat patients with head injuries after which the bored hole will be filled.

During the prehistoric times, when people behave abnormally, holes were normally drilled through their skull to remove the evils from it.

This process of making a whole through the skull is called trephining.
