Explanation:

1. The starting equation to find f(22) is 22=8(x-4)-18

2. Next, distribute(multiply) the 8 to the x and -4 which would make the equation 22=8x-32-18

3. After that, combine the like terms (-32-18) which would give us 22=8x-50

4. Now, we can also combine the 22 and the -50 but they are on different sides of the equation. So, we have to move the -50 to the left side of the equation by adding 50 to both sides which would cancel -50 on the right side, thus "moving" it to the left side which would give us 72=8x

5. Lastly, we have to isolate x right? so to get rid of the 8, you divide both sides by 8 since 8 is multiplying with x which would give us 9=x
