Notice how 4 and 5 are inside of the transversal, this makes them get the name "interior". They are also not on the same side of the interior of the transversal, therefore they are alternate.

COUNTER EXAMPLE: Notice how 1 and 8 are opposite of each other on the outside of the tranversal. This would make them known as alternate exterior angles.
