A bag has 4 green marbles, 3 red marbles, and 3 yellow marbles. What is the probability that you pick a green marble, do not replace it, and pick a red marble?

2/15
1/15
1/9
3/10

you would have a 2/15 chance of getting the green marble because there isn’t a choice of 4/10 and 2/15 would be the better bet.

Answer:

2/15

Explanation:

There is a total of 4 + 3 + 3 = 10 marbles.

There are 4 green marbles, so the probability that the first marble is green is 4/10.

The marble is not replaced, so there are now 9 marbles in the bag. 3 of the marbles are red, so the probability that the second marble is red is 3/9.

The total probability is:

P = 4/10 × 3/9

P = 2/15
