We are standing on the top of a 624 feet tall building and launch a small object upward. The object's vertical position, measured in feet, after t seconds is h(t)=−16t2+160t+624. What is the highest point that the object reaches?

Answer:

1024ft

Explanation:

height of building = 624ft

h(t) = -16t^2 + 160t + 624

To find the, use -b/2a

a = -16, b = 160, c = 624

t = -160/ 2(-16)

t = -160 / -32

t = 5secs

The object will reach it's highest point after 5 seconds.

To find the highest point the object reaches, put t = 5 in h(t)

= -16(5)^2 + 160(5) + 624

= -16(25) + 800 + 624

= -400 + 800 + 624

= 400 + 624

= 1024ft
