Since surface area is the total area from each side, we will take the area of 3 unique sides (ie. dimensions of A x B x C will give 3 unique surfaces of dimensions A x B, B x C and A x C) and multiply each one by 2 to get the area from its duplicate. This condenses to SA (Surface Area) = 2(AB) +2(BC) + 2(AC).

Substituting in our dimensions:


SA=2(8(1)/(4) * 6(2)/(3) )+2(8(1)/(4)*12)+2(6(2)/(3)*12)

Evaluate: SA = 468 yd²
