A taxi travels 25 kilometers east of an airport .Then ,it travels from that point to a point that is 40 kilometers west of the airport.Finally , the taxi returns to the airport.How far did the taxi travel

Answer:

130 km

Explanation:

First he goes 25 km east of airport so D1 = 25 km

He them returns and goes 40 km west of airport i-e first he will come back to airport travelling 25 km back and then he will go west of airport 4o km - so total distance = D2 = 25+40= 65 km

He then returns back again and travels 40 km back, so distance back from west =D3=40 km

So, total distance he traveled = D1=D2+D3 =25+65+40=130 km
