2x^2 + 4x + 1
Trinomial
, it has 3 terms so it is a trinomial.
2nd degree polynomial
, its highest exponent in its variables is 2 so it is a 2nd degree polynomial

Monomial
, it is only 1 term so it is a monomial.
3rd degree polynomial
, its highest exponent in its variable is 3 so it is a 3rd degree polynomial.

Binomial
, it has 2 terms so it is a binomial.
1st degree polynomial
, the variable x has an invisible exponent of 1 so it is a 1st degree polynomial.
