What are the pancake like structures found in chloroplast and what is it function during photosynthesis?

A single “pancake” is called a thylakoid. A stack of thylakoids (pancakes) is called a granum (plural: grana). The thylakoids (pancakes) are green because this is where chlorophyll is stored. The function of the Grana is to absorb light and use it for biochemical reactions.
