Slope formula(m):

m=(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1)

To find y, plug in what you know:

m = -2

(x₁, y₁) = (2, 3)

(x₂, y₂) = (5, y)

m=(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1)

-2=(y-3)/(5-2) Now isolate/get y by itself in the equation

-2=(y-3)/(3) Multiply 3 on both sides

-2(3)=(y-3)/(3)(3)

-6 = y - 3 Add 3 on both sides

-3 = y

PROOF

-2=(-3-3)/(5-2)

-2=(-6)/(3)

-2 = -2
