A client who's being admitted to labor and delivery has the following data collection findings: gravida 2 para 1, estimated 40 weeks' gestation, contractions 2 minutes apart, lasting 45 seconds, vertex 4 station. Which would be the priority at this time?

Answer:

There should be urgent need to prepare for immediate delivery of the baby.

Generally when labour is approaching contractions should be 30 to 45 mints apart,(latent phase) at this phase labour is far. However, as this reduces to 45 seconds intervals, with cervix preparation ,with dilation of 4-8 centimetres called ACTIVE phase, the contraction is very strong ,and immediate delivery is recommended for the woman .
