An express train and a car leave a town at 2P.M. And head for town 300 mi away. The rate of the express is one and one half times the rate of the car. The train arrives 2h ahead of the car. Find the rate of the car.

Since the train is traveling 3/2 times as fast as the car, it travels 300 miles in the same time the car travels 200 miles. The car covers the last 100 miles in that 2 hours between the train's arrival and the car's arrival. That is, the car travels 100 mi/(2 h) = 50 mi/h.
