Answer:

The number will be
-3.

Explanation:

Let us assume the number as
x.

Given:

5 less than twice a number that will be
2x - 5, which is equal to half the difference of three times the number and 13

We have to find the number.

Solution:

The difference of three times the number and 13 could be represented as :
3x - 13

The value be equal to
(1)/(2) of this
3x - 13
(1)/(2) ( 3x - 13 )

As we can see here,

  • That we got a equation ⇒
    2x - 5 = (1)/(2) ( 3x - 13 )

Now, we can solve the above equation:

2x - 5 = (1)/(2) ( 3x - 13 )

We have multiply both sides by
2
4x - 10 = 3x - 13

then, ⇒
x - 10 = -13

x = -3

Hence we can say that number which was assumed as
x will be
-3.
