Stick to what you know. It doesn't help a poem if you are constantly looking things up. Also, don't be afraid to not rhyme. I know a lot of poems do, but a lot don't, because the writer speaks their heart, without worrying about rhyming or timing. Lastly, have fun. If you feel that a poem is boring to write, try to make it fun.
