What does x equal 2x+3=x-5

Transfer all x(unknowns) to one side,
2x-x = -5-3
x= -8

2x+3=x-5. add five to both sides to get 2x+8 = x. subtract 2x from both sides to get 8 = -x. divide both sides by -1 to get x = -8.
