2x + y = 5.....multiply by -3

3x - 2y = 4...multiply by 2

-6x - 3y = -15 (result of multiplying by -3)

6x - 4y = 8 (result of multiplying by 2)

-7y = - 7 <===== here is one mistake.....its -7, not 7

y = -7/-7

y = 1

now sub 1 in for y in either of ur original equations to find x

not sure why u r multiplying again on ur paper when all u have to do is sub

2x + y = 5

2x + 1 = 5

2x = 5 - 1

2x = 4

x = 4/2

x = 2

solution is : (2,1)

the bad part about elimination is if there is a mistake made in the first part, it carries through to the end. So it is always best to check ur answers.
