Step 1:-

Given problem is [(x + 1)(x - 1)]^2

by using formula in side square bracket is


(a+b)(a-b)=(a^(2)-b^(2))


[x^(2) -1]^(2)

Step 2:- again we will use formula


(a-b)^(2) = a^(2) -2 a b+b^(2)


[tex](x^2-1)^(2) = (x^(2)) ^(2) -2 x^(2)  (1)+1^(2)[/tex]

on simplification we get


x^(4)-2 x^(2)  +1

Final answer:-


x^(4)-2 x^(2)  +1
