Water waves in ripple tank is an example of trasverse wave. It means that the water molecules vibrate perpendicular to the direction of the movement of wave.
For example, if the water wave is moving from left to right then the water molecules vibrate up and down.
Sound waves produced by the motor is an example of longitudinal wave. It means air particles vibrate parallel to the direction of movement of wave.
For example, if sound wave is moving from left to right, the particle will also vibrate left to right.
