Deoxyribonuceic acid (DNA) is the stored form of genetic material in living cells. The genetic information/instruction needed for the optimal functioning of any cell is contained in their DNA. The portion or segment of this DNA that encodes the information needed to produce certain useful products e.g proteins is called GENE. These genes found on DNA get passed on from parents to offsprings during reproduction as CHROMOSOMES, which are made up of long strands of DNA.
