Our school has 500 students. Ms. Stevens orders 22

boxes of pencils. Each box has 24 pencils. Will she
have enough pencils to give one to each student?

If there are 22 boxes, all of which with 24 in them, then she will be just fine. 22 times 24 is 528, meaning there will not only be enough pencils, but there will be some extra.

Since there are 500 students in the school, each student can get a pencil, with 28 extra pencils left.

22x24=528

528-500=28
