Andrew's math teacher entered the seventh grade students in a math competition there was an enrollment fee of $30 and also an $11 charge for each packet of 10 tests. The total cost was $151. How many tests were purchased?

Answer: 110

Explanation:

Given;

Total cost C = $151

Enrollment fee E = $30

Charge per 10 test t = $11

n is the number of packet of test taken.

The questions can be represented by the equation below;

30 + 11n = 151

Substracting 30 from both sides.

11n = 151-30 = 121

n = 121/11

n = 11

Since the number of packet of test is 11 and each packet contains 10 tests. The number of test N is given by;

N = 10 n = 10 ×11 = 110

N = 110
