Anti-predator mechanisms are mechanisms developed by prey through evolution or a learning process. The following are the most common mechanisms.

Camouflage, Living Underground, Nocturnality and Apostatic Selection.

Apostatic Selection is an evolutionary process that allows the survival of less frequent species of the same prey.

Nocturnality: Preys whose predator hunt during the day tend to live and hunt for food at night to avoid the predators.

Camouflage: This involves taking the colour of an object or natural habitat to avoid the predator.
