250 bananas were divided equally among a certain number of students. If there were 25 more students, each would have received half bananas less. Find the total number of students.

Answer:

Explanation:

Hello,

Let's note x the number of students, each student received 250 / x

And then, we add 25 students, so we have x +25 students and each of them receive hald bananas so 250 / 2x and this is 250/(x+25) too so we can write

(200)/(2x)=(250)/(x+25)\\ \\<=> x+25=2x\\ \\<=> x = 25

We can double check:

At the beginning 25 students have 10 bananas each = 250 bananas in total

We add 25 students, now there are 50 students they have 5 bananas each = 50*5=250 bananas.

Thanks
