Answer: Area = 7.855 in² , perimeter = 11.426 in.

Explanation:

The shape consists of two quadrants which later form a bigger semicircle and a small semicircle.

To find the area of the shape,

Formula for finding e area of a quadrant = πr²/4,

This is because a quadrant is ¹/₄ of a circle

Therefore, are of the two quadrant = (3.142 x 2² x 2)/4

= (3.142 x 4 x 2) /4

= 6.284 in².

Area of the smaller half circle = πr²/2, where r = 1 in because the diameter is 2 in.

Recall , 2r = a diameter

= (3.142 x 1²)/2

= 1.571 in²

Therefore total area of the shaded portion = 6.284 + 1.571

= 7.855 in².

The perimeter of the of the bigger half circle = the circumference

Formula for circumference of a semicircle = πd/2 or 2πr/2

= (3.142 x 4)/2

= 6.284 in.

Perimeter of the smaller half circle = (3.142 x 2)/2

= 3.142 in.

Perimeter of the shape = 6.284 + 3.142 + 2

= 11.426 in.

Answer:

perimeter is15.70 in

area is 15.70 too

Explanation:

perimeter:3.14×4+3.14×1=15.70

area:3.14×2²+3.14×1²=15.70
