A ship traveling east at 25 mph is 10 miles from the harborwhen a

second ship leaves the harbor traveling east at 35 mph. Howlong
will it take the second ship to catch up with the firstship?

Time taken by second ship to catch up first is 1 hour

Explanation:

Let the distance of the destination from the harbor is x

It is given that first ship is 10 miles from the harbor 'So distance traveled by first ship = x - 10

Speed = 25 mph

So time taken taken
=(x-10)/(25)

And time taken by second ship to reach the destination
=(x)/(35)

Now
(x-10)/(25)=(x)/(35)


35x-350=25x


x=35mile

So time taken by second ship will be equal to
(35)/(35)=1hour
