Good morning,

Answer:

the number of pupils = 7

the number of candies = 63

Explanation:

Let x be the number of pupils

and y be the number of candies

→ If he gave 2candies to each of his pupils, he would have 49 candies left

means 2x+49=y

→ If he gave 5 candies to each of his pupils, he would have 28 candies left

means 5x+28=y

then

5x+28=2x+49

⇒ 3x=21

⇒ x=7

therefore y=2x+49=2(7)+49=63.
