An author works on a new book and after writing a few chapters, begins a new plan to write 600 words per day. On the fifth day of working on this plan, 4,500 words have been written.

Which equation represents the total number of words the author has written, y, based on the number of days, x, since the new plan was started?

Answer:

y=600x+1,500

Explanation:

First you take the writers plan which is 5 days writing 600 words per day.

5 x 600 = 3,000

In 5 days, the writer wrote 3,000 words.

To find the amount of words the author had written before they created their plan, you subtract the 2 numbers

4,500 - 3,000 = 1,500

The author had writen 1,500 words before their plan was created

slope intercept form, or y=mx+b is the equation you need to create out of these numbers

600 words a day (x) starting with 1,500 words in the begninning

so the equation would be

y=600x + 1,500

Hope this helps : )
