We can verify by solving a^2 + b^2 = c^2

The largest number is always the hypotenuse, so 12 will be our c value and a and b will be 6 and 8:

a^2 + b^2 = c^2

6^2 + 8^2 = 12^ 2

36 + 64 = 144

100= 144

As you can see, since 100 \= 144, these three values can not form a right triangle together.
