Hello this is an interesting question..

The width of a rectangle is the smallest side of it , the length of a rectangle is the biggest side.

So let W be the width of a rectangle, and L be the length. Let P be the perimeter of our rectangle.

We know by definition that P = 2W + 2L

And we also kwow from the problem that P = 88 feet.

So 88 = 2W + 2L

But the lenght is 8 feet more than the width, in other words, L = W + 8

This leads us to solve an equation, where the unknown is W :

2W + 2L = P

2W + 2(W+8) = 88

2W + 2W + 16 = 88

4W = 88 - 16

4W = 72

W = 18 Feet

To sum up, the perimeter of our rectangle is 88 feet, the value of the Width is 18 feet, and the length is 8 + Width so it is 8 + 18 = 26 feet

Good Luck :)
