The angle vertically opposite to ∠ 2 is corresponding to ∠ 1 and congruent, so

∠ 2 = ∠ 1 , substitute values

2(5x - 3) = 9x + 6 ← distribute parenthesis on left side

10x - 6 = 9x + 6 ( subtract 9x from both sides )

x - 6 = 6 ( add 6 to both sides )

x = 12
