The shape of a glass stopper is composed of a hemisphere of radius 3 cm and a right circular cone with a slant height of 5 cm as shown. Find the total surface area of the glass stopper. (Take 3.14) ​

Total Surface Area = 150.72 cm

Explanation:

Surface Area of a cylinder = 2 × area of base + lateral face

First find the area of the base

Area of Base = πr² ( pi × radius squared ) ( pi = 3.14 )

AB = 3.14 × 3²

AB = 3.14 × 9

Area of Base = 28.26

Next, find the lateral face

Lateral Face = circumference of base × altitude

( circumference of base = 2πr ) ( altitude = height of the cylinder )

LF = 2 × 3.14 × 3

Lateral Face = 18.84

Last, is the Surface Area

Surface Area of a cylinder = 2 × area of base + lateral face (formula)

SA = 2 × 28.26 + 18.84 × 5

SA = 56.52 + 18.84 × 5

SA = 56.52 + 94.2

Total Surface Area = 150.72
