What is the meaning of the painting "the scream" in your opinion?

"the scream" represents the painters soul, and the feeling of despair. The painting itself symbolizes the dark and troubled times the painter was experiencing as he dealt with mental illness and trauma, therefore this painting is his attempt at trying to show his feelings through what he knew best- painting. Overall, the feelings represented in the painting are jealousy, fespair, anxiety, and melancholy.
