(f - g)(x) = 5x² - x - 4

Explanation:

(f - g)(x)

= f(x) - g(x)

= 4x² - 6x - 1 - (- x² - 5x + 3) ← distribute parenthesis by - 1

= 4x² - 6x - 1 + x² + 5x - 3 ← collect like terms

= 5x² - x - 4
