Separate compound inequalities into system of inequalities

2x-18 < 8

Rearrange variables to the left side of the equation


2x > -3-18
2x < 8-18

Calculate the sum or difference


2x > -21
2x < -10

Divide both sides of the inequality by the coefficient of variable


x > -(21)/(2)
x < -(10)/(2)

Cross out the common factor


x < -5


x > -(21)/(2)\ and\ x < -5

Find the intersection


-(21)/(2) < x < -5
