Solve the equation 3.7g+6=1.7g+12.

a. Find the value of g.
b. Explain how you can check that the value you found for g is correct. If your check does not work, does that mean that your result is incorrect? Explain.

Answer:

a. g = 3

b. Get g alone. on one side and get everything else on the other side. divide both sides by the coefficient to have g = answer.

Explanation:

REMEMBER: What you do to one side must be done to the other as well.

Step one: Move the variable (g) to one side by subtracting it out of one side of the equation.

3.7g+6=1.7g+12

-1.7g -1.7g

2g+6 =12

Step two: Isolate the variable by removing all other numbers from that side.

2g+6 =12

-6 -6

2g = 6

Step three: divide both sides by the variable's coefficient (number next to the variable, in this case it is 2.)

2g = 6

/3 /3

g = 3

Answer: g = 3

Hope this helps! variables can be hard to handle at first.

Answer:

g=3

Explanation:

3.7g+6=1.7g+12

-6 -6

3.7g=1.7g+6

-1.7g -1.7g

2g=6

--------

2 2

g=3

Checking:

3.7g+6=1.7g+12

3.7(3)+6=1.7(3)+12

11.1+6=5.1+12

17.1=17.1

Since they are equal together that means that g is equal to 3.

Sorry if i took a while it was kinda hard to type out all the stufff
