Plug in the numbers for x and y So
3 1/3 + -7/4
Convert the mixed number to an improper fraction
10/3 + -7/4
Calculate the sum
19/12
Answer: 19/12

Explanation:

multiplying a fraction results in you having to divide it

1/3 of 3 is 1 and then -7/4 of 1 is -.75
