The last time I resisted something... probably about 5 months ago when I wanted to hang out with this kid super bad, but I knew I shouldn't because I didn't want to bring myself down. So i resisted the urge to text him back and gained a sort of self-control. Not a very fun story, and not sure if you're looking for a more educational answer, but that is a more personal example that I'm sure others would be able to relate to.
