Answer:

a= 3

b= -18

Explanation:

In order to subtract fractions, you must have a common denominator. Adding variables makes it no different.

To have a common denominator multiply both denominators by the other one.

(x-2)(x+2)=x^2-4

Whatever you do the bottom you do to the top

2(x-2)(x+2) - x+1(x+2) - x-4(x-2)

Solve

2x^2-8 - x^2-3x-2 - x^2+6x-8

Combine like terms

3x-18

Now include the common denominator to get

3x-18/x^2-4
