The words above say “the expression x-2 has a value of -5 for some value of x. For the same value of x, what is the value of the expression (x-2)*squared. Show your reasoning for this problem.” Also i said (*squared) bcuz its squared with a 2 so please dont leave that part out. D: help pls

x - 2 = - 5 Add 1 to each side

x = - 5 + 2

x = - 3

Now go to the next part

(x - 2)^2

(-3 - 2)^2

(- 5)^2

Now it's a good idea at this point to separate the squared. It means that two numbers that are the same are to be multiplied together.

(-5)(-5) Two minuses are going to give you a plus.

5 * 5 = 25

(-5) * (-5) also give you 25

The answer is (1)
