Question

What is the distance between the

points (-8, -3) and (-2, -5)?

Answer:

let the distance between the points be A(-8, -3) = x_1 ,y_1 and B (-2, -5)

= x_2 ,y_2.

Now,

According to the Pythagoras theorem,

d = √ (x _2 −x _1 )^2+(y _2  −y _1 )^2

d=√(-2-(-8))^2 + (-5(-3))^2

d= √(6)^2 + (15)^2

d= √36+225

d= √261

d= 3√29

Therefore d(distance) = 3√29
