Solve:

Given

Convert the first equation's arrangement to correlate with the second equation


\left \{ {{5x + y=3} \atop {2x-3y=8}} \right.

Multiply 3 on both sides in the first equation


\left \{ {{15x + 3y=9} \atop {2x-3y=8}} \right.

Eliminate [y] by adding the two equations


17x = 17

Divide both sides by 17


17x / 17=17/17


x=1


y=-5x+3=-5(1)+3=-5+3=-2
