From (1):

x = 15 - y

Put x = 15 - y in (2)

3(15 - y) + 7y = 89

45 - 3y + 7y = 89

45 + 4y = 89

4y = 89 - 45

4y = 44

y = 44/4

y = 11

x = 15 - y

x = 15 - 11

x = 4
