3. In your opinion, what drives people to fear those who are not like

them? How does a society create trust? How is building trust even
more complicated if influenced by decades of distrust, as in South
Africa?

People are scared of the unknown, if they do not understand something or someone they are likely to develop a negative connotation on them. Society in my opinion creates trust by routine and peace, so when complications in South Africa arose, it divided the people, disturbing the peace, and ultimately separated the people of Africa from building trust.
