Melinda Woods, a 14-year-old girl, was on a hiking trip with her family. Melinda slipped on a wet rock and fell on her right arm. She immediately began crying with pain. The skin is intact, but there is an obvious deformity to the right lower arm. Her mother quickly transports her to the emergency room of the local hospital.

Required:
a. What are the initial actions of the nurse?
b. The fracture is reduced and immobilized by a cast. What discharge instructions will the nurse provide to the patient?

Answer:

the nurse will get the doctor and take Melinda to the x-ray and check the arm then the doctor will do this test that my mom taught me where you take the area where the claim it might be broken and move it around and when they say ow that when they stop doing that direction then do another direction. If Melinda says ow in all directions then he will give Melinda's parents a doctor's note (to give to her school) and take her to a part of the hospital where they put a cast on people and put the cast on her arm and give her a sling. then go back to the room the nurse will give Melinda some info then be on her way. But will come back in a month if the wound is healed then they are good but if not then reply with a different cast.

Step-by-step explanation:

but if you want to do the quick but painful route then grab the arm and put it back into place. (only do this if you cannot get to a hospital right away, i know it sounds disgusting but it gets the job done)
