Answer:

x = 14

y = 23

Explanation:

x = first number

y = second and greater number

x + y = 37 ⇒ y = 37 - x

y + 5 = 2x

Substitution:

(37 - x) + 5 = 2x

42 - x = 2x

3x = 42

x = 14

y = 37 - (14)

y = 23
