The United States Capitol also called Capital Building, is the meeting place of the Congressmen and the seat of the legislative branch of the U.S. federal government. The House and Senate or collectively congress make the legislative branch;

1. The purpose of the legislative branch is to make all laws, regulates commerce in and out of the country, and controls taxing and spending policies, and checking other branches.

2. The Speaker of the House is the presiding officer of the chamber who is elected by the Representatives.

3. The legislative branch can override a veto that is used by the President in the executive branch but with enough votes. The legislative branch can also the executive branch by approving or disproving Presidential nominations and remove the president from office. The Judicial branch is checked by being able to impeach Supreme Court Justices by the legislative branch.
