Why is fake news somewhat different from a conspiracy theory?

Fake news tends to use the general story of a piece of real news but instead changes up the details and actual facts to best serve the intentions of an individual or group of individuals. Conspiracy theories are different in that they connect various pieces of factual information whether they are actually related or not, and ultimately connect everything back to a group of individuals or entity as the cause. Conspiracy theories are very difficult to prove as false and is why they are called theories, while Fake news can be quickly proven as false with actual facts.
