as if we form an imaginary triangle with this line as hypotenuse

we get

  • base = 3 units
  • perpendicular = 4 units

using Pythagoras theorem:-

hyponteuse ² = perpendicular ² + base²

hyp² = 4² + 3²

hyp² = 16 + 9


hyp = √(25)

hyp = 5 units


\sin( \theta ) = (perpendicular)/(hypotenuse) \\ \sin( \theta) = (4)/(5)
