A recent scientific study showed that certain regions of the ocean quickly 5 points
warmed at the end of the last ice age. This warming caused a decrease in
oxygen in those areas of the ocean. If a warming event like this were to
happen again, how would it most likely effect the distribution of aquatic
life?
Aquatic organisms in these regions will be forced to live at ocean depths where
sunlight does not penetrate.
Only the largest aquatic organisms, like the blue whale and whale shark, will be able to
survive in these regions.
These regions would support a large amount of life, so they will attract aquatic
organisms of all sizes.
Few, if any, aquatic organisms will be able to survive in these regions, so they will
become "dead zones!
